MORE TREASURES DISCOVERED VISITING ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH IN THE NOHO

2010 THE YEAR OF VALLEY ADVENTURES

As an officer of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley, I've been on the walking tour of historic North Hollywood a half dozen times. I never get tired of the experience. This Saturday, Ms. Bronwyn Ralph led her first tour for The Museum, and I learned all sorts of new things about this very important part of San Fernando Valley history.
Today, we had the pleasure of once again visiting beautiful Saint Paul's Lutheran Church on Tujunga Avenue. And, once again, there were important new treasures discovered.

Hand carved wooden Baptismal Font Top - Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in North Hollywood. Photo for the Archives of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley by Gerald Fecht August 2010.
Wood carving is one of the great elements of Lutheran culture. The Baptismal Font cover done by a parishioner of the church is a fine example of this heritage.
Stained glass window depicting the Apostle Andrew in Saint Paul's Lutheran Church North Hollywood.
Saint Andrew, one of the twelve disciples chosen by Jesus to lead his church, is depicted in the art of Apostolic Christians with an x-shaped cross. Tradition has it that Andrew was executed on such a cross. The patron saint of Scotland, Saint Andrew's cross appears on the Union Jack (the flag of the United Kingdom.)
