DAY 6 REAL CUPCAKES ON EL CAMINO REAL

CHERISHING OUR VALLEY                   2013

One of the things that I love most about my walks in the San Fernando Valley, is the chance to discover a space destined to be on my list of special places. Doan's classic bakery in Woodland Hills is just such a location.
In 1983, Karen Doan was thinking of ways she could augment her family's income.  A friend recommended that since she was a terrific baker, she should consider opening a shop featuring her talents. 30 years later, Karen with Eric Doan, are master bakers, featuring what might be the best cup cakes in the Valley.

Native Spirit Lodge offers a variety of objects generally themed on American Indians. The store also advertises "spirit quests available".

Near the Native Spirit Lodge is a store that features palm reading.

These hand sculptures and the ball may light up at night.

The metal disks attached to the exterior walls of the Palmistry shop, shimmer in a breeze. It creates a mystical effect.

Images, such as these of the Buddha, are increasingly popular as decorative objects, as the San Fernando Valley becomes more secular.
